The Smith & Wesson Shield has been a popular concealed carry handgun since it was released way back when. A number of people I knew carried the Shield, and some even competed with it. Werkz even provides non-light-bearing holsters for the Shield. However, the initial version was down on capacity, which Smith & Wesson addressed […]
Baseball Bat versus Pistol – Again?
As a follow-on from our last “bad stuff” note, this one comes from Des Moines IA. At about 8:15 on a Saturday night there was a hit and run, where the driver at fault fled (on foot) the scene. Two people from the other vehicle initiated a search for the at fault driver, and found […]
Baseball Bat versus Pistol
At about 3:30am on a Sunday morning, an Audi with 2 occupants forced a Prius off the road in Allentown. A man then exited the Audi, approached the Prius, swung at the Prius driver, and struck the driver’s door with a metal baseball bat. The Prius driver then shot the bat-weilding man once, causing the […]
Streamlight ProTac 2.0 HP & HP-X Announced
Streamlight has announced the latest additions to their upgraded lights. The ProTac 2.0 HP has strong specs, combined with 4 different modes (high / medium / low / strobe), which can be programmed using their “ten-tap” model. The ProTac HP-X is a little smaller, more of an EDC light. It too provides strong output, with […]
Isaiah 55:5
Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee. This wonderful passage indicates how gentile nations will be called to Christ. God’s plan has always been […]
Firearm Isn’t Reliable
A story this week reminded me that firearms aren’t always reliable. In this case, a man entered a home of a husband & wife. The man pointed the firearm at the husband’s head, and attempted to shoot, but it didn’t fire. The man then pointed the firearm at the wife, but again it didn’t discharge. […]
Ammoland on EDC with a Weapon Light
Ammoland has a short article arguing that some of last year’s controversy regarding weapon lights is overblown. The writer argues that weapon lights stack odds in the favor of the user, and if you can carry one comfortable & commit to train, then there is no reason not to carry one. I tend to agree. […]
CZ P-10 C Ported
CZ added a port and a heavier barrel to the P10C to reduce muzzle rise. While I don’t have one on hand, I suspect it will fit in our existing P10C holsters for the pistol when fitted with a TLR-7 light. See CZ’s press release here.
Luke 17:3 – Forgiveness, Repentance, Forgetting
I’ve had occasion to think about forgiveness lately. Luke 17:3 reads as follows: Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. We are commanded to forgive an unlimited number of times (Matthew 18:22), but what how is forgiveness supposed to take place and what are […]
Church Shooter Stopped by F150 and Security Team
A 31-year-old man drove recklessly into a church parking lot this last weekend. He then spent a bit of time equipping himself with a tactical vest, AR-15, pistol, and more than a dozen loaded magazines. Church security spotted the man about 11am, and called the police. The man approached the building, and started firing through […]
