Imagine you’re out to pick up some wings for dinner one night. You grab them, walk to your car parked in a dark area of the lot, and two men approach to rob you. That’s similar to what happened to a man in East Birmingham recently. He left Boston Fish Wings & Things at 9:30pm, […]
Some things are forever right? You can depend on them being there. Like diamonds. And taxes. And the Glock 17 Gen4. Except the last one of those items. Glock is discontinuing a slew of pistols, including the Glock 17 Gen4 and the Glock 17 Gen4 / Gen5 MOS. Along with some of those semi-popular pistols, […]
These words from Psalms 86:11 struck me this week. Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. The plea starts with “Teach me thy way.” Understanding is the beginning of doing. Understanding of the Lord’s way is the beginning of doing right. The verse […]

Seems like all the micro-compact pistols are getting integral compensators or ported barrels these days. The Canik MC9 Prime is one of the latest with these features, plus an optic-ready slide, flat 90 degree break trigger, integrated magwell, unique slide serrations and an improved grip texture. I also love how this small pistol can take […]
I know a number of our customers use a thumb rest on their pistols. In general, thumb rests promote a strong left-hand grip for right-hand shooters; it provides something extra to clamp on to. Thumb rests were popularized on the Sig Sauer P320, but have propagated across many pistols. In the next week or two, […]
I’m a fan of DA/SA pistols. The mechanism provides an extra layer of protection for when holstering. When out training for hours, it’s possible to miss that piece of brass inside the holster mouth, or a shirt bunched up in the trigger guard area. But DA / SA pistols provide the ability to holster with […]
American rifleman recently posted an article regarding whether revolvers are a good choice for self-defense — in comparison to semi-auto pistols. The article is here and worth the quick read. Here are a few of my thoughts on revolvers: A modern DAO or DA/SA revolver is incredibly simple. Once rounds are loaded into the cylinder, […]
Therefore the princes said unto the king, We beseech thee, let this man be put to death: for thus he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the welfare of this […]
“He’s a bad guy, he’s a bad dude, and I’m glad we were able to take him into custody. He’s lucky he was taken to custody. He almost got shot by a homeowner, who had he shot him, we would be standing here and I’d be telling you he did a good job and did […]
