I saw this interesting image posted on AR15.com. Perhaps Canik will have a new pistol for us again this year? It appears to be a compensated MC9L but slightly longer, and with different slide cuts and more aggressive grip stippling. I’ll have to check out the Canik booth to see if the rumor is true!
Brother Shoots Brother around 1am
A tragic incident with few details has a 17 year old brother dead due to an “accidental discharge” by his 15-year-old brother. News says: Police responded to a shooting that happened at a home in Texas City just before 1:30 a.m. and found 17-year-old Joshua Gonzales dead on arrival, the Texas City Police Department said. […]
New Springfield Prodigy Compact
Shortening or lengthening the barrels or grips of pistols seems to result in endless variations. Springfield has another variation of their Prodigy, the “Compact.” It’s available in either 3.5″ or 4.25″ barrel configurations, and features a grip shortened to fit a 15-round magazine. The pistol also has a shortened beavertail to make it a little […]
FN Reflex XL: Subcompact gets Extra Large
FN’s Reflex gets the XL treatment. Taking their popular Reflex, FN has made it larger. This does tend to make the pistol easier to shoot. Features include: It’s also interesting to take note that instead of being striker-fired, like much of the industry, the Reflex pistols have an integral hammer fire. If you’re looking for […]
Mec-Gar Glock Mags?
It looks like one of the largest steel magazine manufacturer is going to make Glock mags. The G17 magazine holds 18 rounds, providing +1 in a flush fit magazine. The G19 mag holds the same amount, but appears to have a baseplate that extends upward to fill the gap. One of the nice things is […]
Staccato HD: A 2011 with Glock(ish) Mags
Staccato has announced their HD pistols, in either 4.0 or 4.5 inch barrel configurations. These 2011s feature a number of key features: This looks like a nice set of features. I’m not certain whether removing the grip safety is an improvement or not; I’ve shot a lot of 2011, and never had problems with grip […]
HK VP9 A1 F & K
Heckler & Koch has introduced their A1 evolution of the VP9 platform. It features a better trigger and a grip without finger grooves. Additionally, modular grip panels allow length of pull adjustment. At one time I carried a VP9. This was the original style with the paddle mag release — which I happen to like. […]
Vehicle Theft
A suspect is in custody after successfully stealing a truck in Mountlake Terrace (WA). Story here. This is yet another incident that occurred in the dark of night. A vehicle theft suspect ended up at Swedish Edmonds Hospital after being shot by the truck owner’s relative while leaving the scene in the 23000 block of […]
Kriss Kymera DA/SA: They Make New Hammer Pistols?
Kriss has announced their Kymera DA/SA pistol (link goes to a email signup page to get more info at launch), which they’ll debut at Shot 2025 next week. This is a modular pistol with a number of different grip sizes, plus potentially other features. Pictures show without a mounting rail for lights, but I would […]
Psalm 100 / All People That On Earth Do Dwell
I’ve been reviewing some of my favorite hymns. This one makes its way into our church’s rotation fairly often, and it’s quite pretty, and based upon Psalm 100. Here are the first two verses: I see this hymn as a reminder to praise the Lord, for he made us, takes care of us, and is […]
