FN just released their 309 pistol. This pistol sports a factory direct mount optic cut, FN’s famous barrel metallurgy, and 16 or 20 round magazine capacity in polymer mags, all for a price point around $500. TFB has an interview with FN that explores some of the features. Check it out. And if you’re interested […]
Smith & Wesson Shield X Carry Comp
What do you get when you combine the following? I think it’s the S&W Shield X Carry Comp. Smith & Wesson has combined all the most popular features (plus even an optional thumb safety and an optional 10-round capacity for those of you in “those states”) into a single pistol. I suspect this pistol will […]
My Favorite Glocks: Discontinued
In August this year (2025), Glock discontinued the COA models to the civilian market. This was a bit of a surprise since they had just released the COA pistols after Shot Show in January. Now Glock announced another huge wave of discontinued models. I’ve run a number of Glock pistols over the years. Glock 19, […]
S&W Model 19 Carry Comp
I’ve been noticing revolvers a little more lately. I find them extremely easy to carry and conceal in the right holster. Plus they can be very effective at contact range. As a result, the S&W Model 19 Carry Comp article in American Rifleman drew my interest. Smith & Wesson’s K-Frame revolver is larger than the […]
Hellcat OSP .380
Micro-compact pistols can be snappy, which may not work for shooters with less hand strength. This is why many manufacturers have provided pistols in 9x18mm, also known as .380 or 380ACP. The case has reduced space for powder, and often shoots a lighter projectile, both of which contribute to less recoil impulse, reduced spring pressures, […]
Staccato HD C3.6 for Concealed Carry
Staccato announced their HD C3.6 this week. I think I would call this the “Glock 19 of the Staccato HD lineup” with its 15-round capacity. Obviously, the 3.6 is in addition to the P4 and the P4.5 versions, which both have 18 round capacity and barrel lengths of 4″ and 4.5″ (respectively). We are currently […]
Taurus GX4 Strike Bravo
Have you been waiting for the right value-priced pistol with available brace? Perhaps the Taurus GX4 Strike Bravo is the pistol for you. Taurus says: The Taurus GX4 Strike Bravo takes the proven GX4 Carry 9mm platform and adds a bold new edge through collaboration with Strike Industries. Outfitted with the Strike Industries FSA Single […]
Echelon 4.0C Comp
The Springfield Echelon continues its development with the 4.0C Comp version. It provides an integrated compensator for flatter shooting, and includes both 18-round and 15-round capacity magazines (if your state allows). The 4″ barrel is a popular choice, providing a nice compact platform for everyday carry. My guess is that this pistol shoots flat. I […]
Smith & Wesson Shield X: With a Rail
The Smith & Wesson Shield has been a popular concealed carry handgun since it was released way back when. A number of people I knew carried the Shield, and some even competed with it. Werkz even provides non-light-bearing holsters for the Shield. However, the initial version was down on capacity, which Smith & Wesson addressed […]
CZ P-10 C Ported
CZ added a port and a heavier barrel to the P10C to reduce muzzle rise. While I don’t have one on hand, I suspect it will fit in our existing P10C holsters for the pistol when fitted with a TLR-7 light. See CZ’s press release here.
