Baseball Bat versus Pistol

At about 3:30am on a Sunday morning, an Audi with 2 occupants forced a Prius off the road in Allentown. A man then exited the Audi, approached the Prius, swung at the Prius driver, and struck the driver’s door with a metal baseball bat. The Prius driver then shot the bat-weilding man once, causing the attacker to back up and drop the bat. The Prius driver then left the scene, traveled one and a half blocks away, then called 911 and remained there until police arrived.

The attacker was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No charges have been filed against the Prius driver.

Would a strong light in the eyes of the attacker have deterred him from attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm with a bat?
