1 Corinthians 15:17 – Faith in Vain
1 Corinthians 15:17: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. I believe Christ was raised from the dead and bodily ascended into heaven. I believe the biblical & historical accounts, as well as the faith of the fathers throughout the generations. The evidence has convinced me […]
Jude 1:4: Grace into Lasciviousness
Jude 1:4 reads as follows: For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. I don’t know why I opened the bible to Jude today, but […]
Psalms 105:6 – Seed of Abraham
In my work through Psalms 105, I come to verse 6. Psalm 105:6: O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen. Up to this point, the psalmist exhorts the reader to give thanks and praise to the Lord, sing until Him, seek the Lord, and remember his wonderful works. Amen! […]
Psalm 105:5 – Marvellous Works!
Psalm 105:5 reads: Remeber his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgements of his mouth The Lord is good to me. I’m blessed beyond measure, and I remember some of these blessings in my daily prayers. However, I could do more to remember His works and wonders, which are a blessing […]
Psalm 105:4
Working through Psalm 105, I come to verse 4: Seek the LORD and his strength: seek his face evermore. It’s critical to keep focus on the Lord. I need to be seeking a greater understanding and reliance upon God. I need to constantly improve my understanding of His word, and other ways that He reveals […]
Psalm 105:3 – Glory You!
“Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.” The 3rd verse of Psalm 105 begins with the word “glory”. What are we to glory in? Ourselves? Our own strength? That we are not like other sinners? Not in this verse. No we are to glory in the […]
Psalms 105:2
Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works. Following on my previous mediation on 105:1, this verse emphasizes singing to the Lord, and specifically singing psalms unto the Lord. I’ve attended a number of churches over the years. It seems many are caught up in modern worship, for which […]
Psalms 105:1 – Make Known!
O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. This is no lackluster “give thanks” but rather one that I could envision as shouting from the rooftops! This is the thanks that I should bring my Lord, not as some sort of payment for His great deeds, […]
John 7:16 – Whose Doctrine?
John 7:16 reads, Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. The Jews were surprised that Jesus was teaching because he “never learned.” They were referring to formal education that the Jews had. They couldn’t understand how any man could have teaching authority without first having learned in […]
Isaiah 9:7 – Increase of His Kingdom
It’s Christmas! Rejoice in the glorious miracle that is Christ! Isaiah 9:7 reads as follows: Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The […]
