Modlite has launched their Noxon Anark today. This light boasts 1,000 lumens and 18,000 candela in a small form factor for $130. I’ve had the chance to carry an Anark over the last couple weeks. My usage consists of frequent admin tasks that require a low level of light, and occasional tasks that require high […]
With the recent launch of the Olight PL X, Werkz is happy to announce availability of our holsters for Glock and Walther pistols with this light. Werkz currently has right handed versions in both M6 IWB and M7 OWB configurations. If you’re looking for another pistol fitment, please leave a comment in the video review […]
I’ve been anticipating the CD EPL for some time now. Yes, it feels like years. Because it has been years. Given our position in the industry, I consider it a professional duty to obtain a few samples and test them. So way back in on March 1, 2025, I ordered 3 of them at the […]
Laser Excited Phosphor (LEP) lights have been around for a number of years, with Kyocera even manufacturing the key components right here in the USA. LEP lights allow a highly focused beam, providing high candela numbers and minimal spill due to the small light emission area of the design. This makes them well-suited to target […]
Streamlight announced the release of their Wedge SL, an “Ultra-Thin Rechargeable EDC Inspection Flashlight.” The light has a maximum output of 500 lumens and 1,600 candela. However, output isn’t the focus; form factor is. Wedge, or rectangular section, lights are popular these days in large part because they carry so nicely in the pocket. The […]
Holosun has just released the P.ID-K compact light. Holosun provides the following information on this light: This powerful light produces 500 lumens / 6,500 candela on high mode and 250 lumens / 3,000 candela on low mode, ensuring positive target identification in low-light situations. I suspect it’s durable, but am not certain the specs or […]
Streamlight has announced the latest additions to their upgraded lights. The ProTac 2.0 HP has strong specs, combined with 4 different modes (high / medium / low / strobe), which can be programmed using their “ten-tap” model. The ProTac HP-X is a little smaller, more of an EDC light. It too provides strong output, with […]

Modlite just posted a good overview of 5 uses of white light, or “Lowlight Theory”. It’s worth the short watch. I appreciate how they included “control” as one of the 5 uses.
The long-anticipated Cloud Defensive EPL is now available to order. Check the link here. However, I wouldn’t hold my breath. It says they’re shipping fall 2025, so it will be some time before the EPL arrives. It boasts 52,000 candela and 1,200 lumens, and attempts to provide both a wide flood and a strong hotspot. […]
