Philippians 4:6 reads:
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
Paul doesn’t just tell me to pray; he tells me to pray with thanksgiving, and I need to take that seriously. Too often my prayers might turn into a list of worries and requests, and I forget how many times God has already been faithful to me. Gratitude isn’t something I should tack onto the end of a prayer; it’s the posture that turns my anxiety into trust. The very next verse promises that when I pray this way, the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, will keep my heart and mind through Christ Jesus. So before I ask Him for anything today, I want to stop and thank Him for what He has already done.
