Springfield has released the Echelon Alpha, which is a slightly different Echelon compact at a “more accessible” price point.
As far as I can tell, it retains the same serialized trigger module, which Springfield calls the “Central Operating Group.” It also retains the grip of the 15-round compact Echelon, as well as the optics mounting system. The main difference that I see is the slide with a slightly different profile; the Alpha loses the “ears” on the back of the slide as well as a more “blocky” cut between muzzle and ejection port. My guess is that Springfield kept the slide within the same “envelope” to maintain holster compatibility, but I cannot be certain until I have a pistol in my hand.
Will you be running the Echelon Alpha? Need a holster for it? Let me know in the comments below.
