Jude 1:4 reads as follows:
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
I don’t know why I opened the bible to Jude today, but here I am reading Jude’s correction and encouragement to Christians who have been led astray. He talks of men who have crept in without being noticed. These men both ungodly and condemned using the message of grace to feed their own lusts. I can only imagine the type of wicked desires these men find through leading the Christian body astray. Power? Likely. Riches? Possibly. Other men’s wives? I pray not. Jude tells us that this “grace into lasciviousness” becomes an act of defying God and Jesus.
We know that all scripture is good for education, and for all ages. Thus, this scripture is also a word of warning to us in the year 2026. Do I know anyone that is using scripture to benefit himself, or to justify evil acts? Is there someone I need to reject? Or is this a warning meant for my future? Either way, it is good for me to not accept everything I hear; I need to test it versus scripture (Acts 17:11, Matthew 7:15, 1 John 4:1).
