A resident in Newport Oregon was awoken after midnight to one man stabbing another on the resident’s porch. The resident grabbed his weapon and intervened, killing the attacker with a single gunshot. The victim has been transported to the hospital in critical condition. Police later found that the attacker had earlier that evening stabbed another man to death as well.
I cannot imagine waking up to such a scene on my porch. Most people these days have good porch lights, which likely helped in this instance. Otherwise, a homeowner might have to resort to a flashlight to clearly identify what is happening.
