Seminole County Sheriff deputies arrived on the scene in Longwood FL about 1am.
Two drivers who had reason to be in the area had an altercation. 51-year-old Manuel Alejandro Rosado pointed his pistol at the other driver, who then drew his weapon and fired back. This caused Rosado’s vehicle to crash, and Rosado was pronounced dead.
The state attorney’s office had this to say:
The State Attorney’s Office agreed that it was a justifiable homicide and does not plan to file charges. A senior Seminole County prosecutor went to the scene of the shooting and worked overnight with sheriff’s investigators to advise their investigation and evaluate evidence. Physical evidence recovered at the scene corroborated the shooter’s account of him firing in self-defense after the decedent aimed a handgun at him.
The sheriff’s investigation remains ongoing. We are waiting for that to conclude before commenting further.
While driving, we can feel as if we are in steel and glass cages, away from many of the dangers in life. However, as this shows, escalating confrontations can have deadly results. It’s unclear from this story how fast each was driving, but it can be difficult to steer a car while getting shots on target.
