Matthew 7:17 reads:
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
Jesus’ teaching here is regarding prophets (v15) and inspired speakers. I think the first application should be a pastor. Is the congregation thriving? Are sins addressed? Sure there will be evil actions within a church body, but is there an aroma of love within the congregation? Are men loving & protecting their wives? If so, the women should flourish. Are children likewise thriving, or are they wayward? Are families running profitable businesses or are they constantly looking for assistance?
I think this verse is also generally applicable. As head of my household, I need to be responsible for all the things listed above. If my family isn’t thriving, then it’s my responsibility to get things back on track.
Further, as a business owner, I’m responsible to you. My products should be “good fruit” and my writings should be uplifting. Equipping and encouraging men to protect those they love is my fruit. Product design & manufacturing takes care of the gear, and the Bulletz are my attempt to uplift men. That means YOU, dear reader.
YOU are the sentinel, protecting those you love against evils from the world. It’s a huge responsibility, but one that falls on your shoulders. Further, YOU are the breakwater that stands against the storm in the world. No, us men cannot stop ever horrible societal trend, unlawful law, or unjust war, but strong & unmoving men have a broad effect. Especially when your brothers also stand against the crashing waves with you.
My encouragement to you this week is that you must be steadfast in the Lord, and be unmoved. Yes, you protect your family against physical threats, but you also provide steady assurance to many times more people when you reject evils and promote good — even if society seems to be demanding you crumble. Stand firm because those around you need you to be firm.
I pray my tree brings forth good fruit, as does yours.
