From North Philadelphia comes a story that a 19-year-old was pistol-whipping a 21-year-old because the younger man was upset over a loud argument near his apartment. A 36-year-old man (who apparently was involved in the original “loud argument”) retrieved his pistol and hot the 19-year-old 7 times. The 19-year-old is in the hospital in critical condition, and now in police custody.
I found this article interesting for two reasons. First is that it highlights that multiple shots are typically needed to stop an attacker. I think it’s important to train not just for a double-tap to dispatch a deadly threat. The second interesting item is that the news story happened to show a pistol that apparently was involved in the dispute. I don’t know which person it belonged to. It appears to be a Glock G19 with a Streamlight TLR-1, a blue silicone grip cover, and a larger-than-stock magazine. I cannot imagine carrying this, so perhaps it was a nightstand pistol? I also wonder if the light was activated at any point in the altercation.
