Hellcat OSP .380

Micro-compact pistols can be snappy, which may not work for shooters with less hand strength. This is why many manufacturers have provided pistols in 9x18mm, also known as .380 or 380ACP. The case has reduced space for powder, and often shoots a lighter projectile, both of which contribute to less recoil impulse, reduced spring pressures, and an easier pistol to manipulate. In response to this usage, ammunition manufacturers have also provided potent defensive rounds in .380.

Springfield is now providing their Hellcat OSP in .380 in addition to 9mm. The pistol offers optic support (“OSP” stands for Optic Sight Pistol), plus all the features popular in a Hellcat, all for the MSRP of $653.

You might wonder if this pistol fits in holsters built for the Hellcat OSP 9mm. I am wondering the same thing, so I expect to check compatibility soon.

Do you think this will be a popular pistol? Or is this simply an incremental addition to Springfield’s line? Feel free to leave a comment below.

  1. I just ordered the Hellcat .380, I sent Springfield a email asking about holster fitment. There response was that the dimensions were the same as the 9mm, the only difference being the 9mm is slightly heavier.

I would like to see an M7, and a Bisect for this model.

  2. Great feedback thanks! We received our Hellcat 380 and at first glance, it seems to be the same dimensions as the 9mm. We will be verifying fitment this week.
Assuming it fits, we have you covered for the Bisect

M7 “nolight” are coming… very soon! (If that’s what you’re asking for.)
