Tragedy struck in Los Angeles.
Two men heard their car alarm go off in a an alley in the 8000 block of South Hooper Avenue, Los Angeles after 9pm. Juan Marquez, 41, and another man approached 3 men attempting to steal their car. Unfortunately for Marquez, a 4th man was near the South entrance to the alley, presumably a lookout, and opened fire on Marquez and the other man. It’s unclear whether Marquez or the other man shot back, but the suspects fled. Marquez is now deceased, and the other man was shot in the leg.
This is a sad reminder of two things:
First, don’t be too target focused. When confronting a criminal, it could be best to assume the criminal brought friends.
Second, remember that you may not be the only one bringing a gun to the fight. The criminal(s) may have guns as well, and could get the drop on you.
