Imagine you’re out to pick up some wings for dinner one night. You grab them, walk to your car parked in a dark area of the lot, and two men approach to rob you.
That’s similar to what happened to a man in East Birmingham recently. He left Boston Fish Wings & Things at 9:30pm, and was approached. The robbery victim fired shots, injuring one of the robbers critically. He then left the area and called police.
In this case, I can assume the area had enough lighting for the robbery victim to see his attackers. Would a handheld or weapon light have made any difference to him? I don’t know. However, I would typically prefer to have better lighting in such a situation. Also note that the would-be-victim left the scene — perhaps it was unsafe for him to stay?
