American rifleman recently posted an article regarding whether revolvers are a good choice for self-defense — in comparison to semi-auto pistols.
The article is here and worth the quick read.
Here are a few of my thoughts on revolvers:
A modern DAO or DA/SA revolver is incredibly simple. Once rounds are loaded into the cylinder, it is ready to go. From there, all the user has to do is point it in the proper direction and pull the trigger. Additionally, statistics seem to show that 5 or 6 rounds is sufficient to end most fights. Further, a less experienced operator can often have success with a revolver; they aren’t susceptible to limp wristing like autoloading pistols.
While I prefer to carry a semi-auto, I can see some of the attraction of revolver use.
