Now That’s a Wake Up Call!

As a coffee shop owner, I find this frightening! About 3 hours away in the town of Kennewick WA, a barista noticed a car circling Wake Up Call coffee. Presumably, this alerted the woman working to something bad about to happen. A male teenager crawled through the coffee shop’s drive-through window, grabbed money from the register, and then approached the barista.

The barista thankfully had some presence of mind, because she responded by producing her own pistol and commanding him to leave.

He then pointed his own pistol at the barista, who responded by firing a shot. The intruder fell to the floor.

She escaped out a back door, and the intruder ran to the getaway car and left the scene.

Nearly 12 hours later, Pasco police found the teen intruder in a different car, and took him into custody.

Thankfully, the barista had enough situational awareness to get out of this, apparently without physical harm. From the story, it appears that she even waited for him to take the money, possibly with the hope he would simply leave afterward, but ultimately had to use her pistol in self defense.
