Smith & Wesson CSX E-Series

Smith & Wesson announced their new CSX E-Series pistol. This micro-compact single-action pistol now boasts an aluminum frame, optic-cut for Shield RMS-C or Holosun 507k mount optics, and now a modular grip. The modular grip adapter allows you to customize for better concealment or a larger grip size. Supposedly, Smith & Wesson has a feature that directs combustion gasses away from the optic.

I appreciate when companies try to provide something a little different. A hammer-fired, single-action, non-1911 is different. But will it be popular?

  1. I looked at a CXS when I decided to buy a small 9mm a couple of years ago because the single action controls were the same as those on the 1911’s I have been carrying for decades. However, I chose to go with a shield plus because of the larger capacity. I am sure I would have bought a CXS-e had they been available then. I might still pick one up.
