Staccato has announced their HD pistols, in either 4.0 or 4.5 inch barrel configurations.
These 2011s feature a number of key features:
- Grip is based on Glock pattern magazines, using 18-round Mec-Gar mags. This is interesting in itself; one of the largest steel mag manufacturers now has a Glock mag, providing +1 capacity over Glock’s own solution. - The grip safety is removed.
- Fully ambidextrous controls with mag release that can be swapped to opposite side.
- Frame has integrated thumb index points.
- Active firing pin block.
- Direct optic mount for most optics.
- Rear sight is mounted forward of the optic
- 4.5″ version has integrated comp
This looks like a nice set of features. I’m not certain whether removing the grip safety is an improvement or not; I’ve shot a lot of 2011, and never had problems with grip safeties. What are your thoughts?
